SU versus GSU

Hello everyone. I have a sinus headache that has been nagging me all day. As this is no news to y'all, I hate it every time I get one. My face hurts, and eyes feel like they are going to poof out the sockets. Around my nose feels like somebody's jumping up and down in there and calling me names 'cause I haven't taken any meds yet.

Also as you all are aware; the annual Bayou Classic is today. You know the rival game between SU and GSU. This year I'm rooting for any one of them to win…Okay, maybe it's the headache – that didn't come out right. I'm usually for Southern, but with both being historical Black Colleges, I'm all for them getting out there and having some fun and giving it all they've got, and of course keep it cool on the sportsmanship. Isn't that what's it about anyway?

On another note: The weather most definitely looks like a winter day. It's chilly, but nice. It's cloudy, and grey, and some would say gloomy, but I think it's the type of weather that puts one in the Holiday spirit. So I'm about to get in it. I think I'm going over to the new B&N and continue working on this one book project I've been on. Y'all notice I'm really quiet (not specific) on the book/writing front, but hmmmm, just wait and see; I'm coming for you. Just be ready for ya gurl.

As for later on tonight, as of now, I don't feel much like getting out on the entertainment side, so I'll probably be posted up in the studio.

I’m Stuffed!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Wow, I'm stuffed. And yes my jeans are unbuttoned! Everything turned out really good with another year of family folks and good friends. There was a house full!!!! I'm thinking of doing some house-hopping now. Although I'm full – I know somebody has cooked gumbo and I'd like to get that in before the day is over. (At least grab a bowl for later!) The weather is a bit nippy and I LOVE IT! I've got on a black sweater and jeans and black boots, so I'm ready baby. 

 

My niece and hubby also came over for dinner – you know the one who was married a couple weeks ago. She's a poet, so babygirl wants to record something in the studio tonight!  She's gone to visit other relatives now, and I aw know 'cause I've had two DEEP glasses of white wine and I'm on cruise control -- but we'll see whenever she gets back. Speaking of house-hopping; shoot I could really just open my bedroom window and let all that nice crispy weather in and sleep like a baby.

Excellent Saturday Morning

Hello my good peeps. I got up early this morning, showered and dressed to this lovely day and drove to a new Barnes & Noble which opened earlier this week. It's the second B&N in the Baton Rouge area. It's a one-story, unlike the other store which is a two-story with an elevator and escalators. This one's pretty nice. I LOVE the atmosphere. It feels like a few of the stores I've frequented across the country. I remember a few in particular in Michigan and Minnesota. The lighting is perfect and the openness of the store feels spacious and relaxing. It's quiet and cozy with a hint of Christmas music playing softly in the background. There are a few people snuggled comfortably throughout the store in those big comfy soft chairs. There's a lot of new development going on around the area. The weather brings a beautiful morning with not a cloud in the sky. The wind is perfect and the humidity is low, as it feels like one of those California days.

After browsing and absorbing the moment, I ordered a Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte' extra shot extra hot, (hmmmmmm it's so good - the barista made it perfectly), with a slice of Carrot-Cake Cheesecake and a cup of Minestrone soup. The soup is very tasty as well. I haven't dived into my cheesecake yet. Oh and yeah, I am typing this post while eating.

This coffee is SOOOOO good! (Oh, I said that already!)

I'll probably be here for hours reading and writing. I've got two Photoshop books to browse through as I'm always trying to learn new techniques. I will also probably work on 2 logos that I hope to finish this afternoon.

I was in the studio last night till around 12:30 a.m. A music friend, Terrence and his wife came through and we talked and listened to a few tracks. A female rapper was scheduled to come through and record, but she ended up stopping through later to just listen to one of the tracks I'd completed for her because she had to be at work this morning for three o'clock. The track I threw together for her is definitely a head-banger (nah, I aint braggin' – I'm just sayin') SMILE! I took a sample of Gladys Knight's Midnight Train to Georgia, looped it and threw in a few other samples of the song, then laced the track with the drums to bang it out. As the rapper listened to it, she started spitting out lyrics like they were made for each other. We plan to record it next week.

(Update) I had to come back and tell y'all the Carrot-Cake Cheesecake is SICK! That's how GOOD it is! Perfect morning!

Usual combusation…

What's good everyone? Thanks for the emails from the last post. Thanks for the extra push and support! Nothing much here, other than lately, the knees, (yeah – remember those?) have been giving me the blues these days. Although the pain never goes away, I don't talk much about it. Yesterday, I was at a point where my knees trembled to stand on. And trying to do the treadmill for the past couple weeks have been difficult. (Of course I'm still at it!) It's been over a year now and still no surgery dates! I had a visit with my doctor today.

As for the creative juices; The lab has been quite busy. I finished some time pending projects and still have a few in the trenches to wrap up. My workload at work is HEAVY! I've put some action plans together on a few projects – but uhm, just know that it's crazy. Did I mention that it's CRAZY?! (You know I aint gon' get deep!)

I have not YET had my Pumpkin Spiced Latte, extra shot, extra hot from Starbucks! Y'all know it's my favorite. When I was traveling, I often had it as I frequented Barnes and Noble; that is when this drink was in season. I think I may get out this evening and do the dang-on-thang.

And lastly, but definitely first on my list for today is that today is my Godson's birthday. He turned five. So please join me in sending a Happy BD wish to my baby boy Tyler. That's a wrap my lovely people. I hope everyone is having a good week.

It’s been a Minute

What's up all? The last few days have been quite interesting and fulfilling. I started some training classes with my job 2 weeks ago and it has been a pleasure meeting 11 new partners-in-crime (my classmates/co-workers). We've already become family. They are from other parts of the state and surrounding areas. There are 3 of us which are from the BR area.

It's been a while since I've been in a classroom structure. There's still some real work involved as well, but to have a set schedule is perfect right about now. My new friends really make coming to class/work more pleasurable. I'm glad the company is taking on a different structure in continued training with its management. The focus is refining people skills and dealing with diversity. (I call it psychology!) This is kind of a big deal and hopefully our employees, customers, and clients will benefit from this in a global fashion.

I personally know some knuckle-heads who realllllllllly need to go through this class. There are some of us who have no people skills at all! Feel me???? I'm glad to be a part of only the 2^nd group in my area to go through this training. I guess we're still the guinea pigs. The teachers are great! Yeah!!!!! They are knowledgeable and have a sense of humor. Double Yeah!!

Well that's it. I'm in B&N chilling like a villain. It's absolutely a beautiful night. I know the hurricane is just days away, (if it comes this way), however, it has definitely cooled off the night skies. I almost took a stroll down the street to New Orleans.
