Just Peeking In

Hello everyone. There's nothing much going on today. I'm in a small studio session right now. Actually the artist is writing to a track - so I'm just hanging out here while she's doing her thing.

A couple days ago, I went on and two strand twisted my nappy hair just to see if I could do it! My arms were tired from all that tedious detail. Earlier today, I unraveled them which is called the 'twist out' look. I love it! A friend from Cali told me how to do it.  I never knew exactly how they did that. I'd been a perm girl too long - See how behind time I am!

Everything else is everything. Y'all check me out in my music world and get at me if I can musically assist you.

Day after Christ's B'Day

Yesterday was the perfect holiday. Anytime there's good fam, friends and food around, it's all good baby. It's simply a blessing. As for gifts; I got a bundle of Barnes & Noble gift cards, a Bath n Body Works gift basket of the only fragrance I wear -- Moonlight Path, a gift card for Olive Garden, a set of candles, a couple pair of slippers, books, and a few dollar bills. :)

My godson (5 years-old) has been with me since last night and at this very moment, he's sitting in the family room singing out loud to his MP3 player. His dad brought over more of his Christmas toys which he's been begging for all day. So now he's in hog heaven.

As for me, I've got a few music projects (production) to get going and some to finish. I'm basically back to the grind. So I've got a few days to try and knock 'em out before I decide my plans for New Years.

And on the front of these painful knees -- OH MY GOSH! I got injections a few days ago, and -- but uhm, these days I'm having consistent pain. I guess with playing volleyball yesterday over at the neighbors didn't help. :) But it was good times!

Just Posted a New Track!!!!

Go Here to hear it titled Seasoned. Hello my good peoples. I've been posted up in the studio most of the night and all day today, and it's been a lovely experience. Now, if I can just get that ONE BIG production contract, ya girl gon' be alright. It's all good though, I'm doing what I love to do and I know persistence is gon' pay for it all.

Other news brings a busy lady trying to stay up mentally. My head is full of SO MANY creative things. I'm trying to keep it all in perspective and remain focused. I depend on y'all for simply being an ear or eye. Just having that support keeps the lady maintaining. So, thank you!

Yesterday, a national organization did a photo shoot in my studio. A colleague asked to use the facility for the shots. He's going to be featured on a national cover. His sponsor and the photographer were both nice ladies and professional in their respective fields. The photographer unloaded her photo gadgets such as umbrellas, light cans and battery packs, and a camera to DIE for. Girl was also creative with the different shots she did with him. She utilized the ambiance from the lights of all of my studio toys. I could immediately tell she was very creative. I even learned that she produces radio ads and familiar with the production process. You know I was feeling all that, right??!!! I was impressed and simply amazed that it was all going down right there. Of course we all exchanged contacts.

From then on, I was posted up in the lab doing my thing. Well that's it for now. If you've got a minute; go check out the new track (1^st Track) and if you know of anyone who need tracks, a producer, or studio, don't forget about ya gurl.

Excellent Saturday Morning

Hello my good peeps. I got up early this morning, showered and dressed to this lovely day and drove to a new Barnes & Noble which opened earlier this week. It's the second B&N in the Baton Rouge area. It's a one-story, unlike the other store which is a two-story with an elevator and escalators. This one's pretty nice. I LOVE the atmosphere. It feels like a few of the stores I've frequented across the country. I remember a few in particular in Michigan and Minnesota. The lighting is perfect and the openness of the store feels spacious and relaxing. It's quiet and cozy with a hint of Christmas music playing softly in the background. There are a few people snuggled comfortably throughout the store in those big comfy soft chairs. There's a lot of new development going on around the area. The weather brings a beautiful morning with not a cloud in the sky. The wind is perfect and the humidity is low, as it feels like one of those California days.

After browsing and absorbing the moment, I ordered a Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte' extra shot extra hot, (hmmmmmm it's so good - the barista made it perfectly), with a slice of Carrot-Cake Cheesecake and a cup of Minestrone soup. The soup is very tasty as well. I haven't dived into my cheesecake yet. Oh and yeah, I am typing this post while eating.

This coffee is SOOOOO good! (Oh, I said that already!)

I'll probably be here for hours reading and writing. I've got two Photoshop books to browse through as I'm always trying to learn new techniques. I will also probably work on 2 logos that I hope to finish this afternoon.

I was in the studio last night till around 12:30 a.m. A music friend, Terrence and his wife came through and we talked and listened to a few tracks. A female rapper was scheduled to come through and record, but she ended up stopping through later to just listen to one of the tracks I'd completed for her because she had to be at work this morning for three o'clock. The track I threw together for her is definitely a head-banger (nah, I aint braggin' – I'm just sayin') SMILE! I took a sample of Gladys Knight's Midnight Train to Georgia, looped it and threw in a few other samples of the song, then laced the track with the drums to bang it out. As the rapper listened to it, she started spitting out lyrics like they were made for each other. We plan to record it next week.

Get ‘Er Done!

I'm feeling a bit better than earlier today. I'm in the studio as I type this. I'm kinda hyped 'cause I've got some projects to finish between tonight and Friday. I have my boy T. who runs an entertainment company coming through tomorrow night (Thursday) for the first time. He's bringing his execs through so we can talk about me doing some production work for their company. I've got my girl Lex, (rapper) who needs to come through again soon and record some joints. So tonight is the night that I need to complete my pending projects so I can focus on my folks when they come through.

One of my long time friends and singer I used to produce back in the day, who now resides in New York, sent me an email yesterday indicating that she wants some music. Y'all this girl can SAANG! I haven't hit her back yet, but she told me to just name a price. Of course, she's going to get the hook up just for keeping a girl on the roster. She's hanging with big timers, but has always liked my music production on the R&B tip. So Keish, my girl, I got you. I'll hit you up soon.

As I'm not feeling 100%, I just turned on the equipment and am ready to dive in. I'm excited with how this part of my life has resurfaced. You know what they say, if given a chance to make it a second time around, it's definitely a shot you must take and go all the way.

Baby’s Home

That's her below the speakers! She's been ill for a while now, but now she's healed and roaring as good as ever. Don't know if y'all remember some weeks ago, my Mackie 24.8 Mixing Board went through some minor irritable problems which were causing more of a headache during sessions. I took her to one place (also an authorized service center for Mackie) which kept her for over 2 weeks and finally declared they couldn't fix it. I then later took it some miles away to another place here in town and they had it fixed within a week. Not only that, dude was very detailed in how he made the repairs. He even repaired parts I didn't know was broke. He also thoroughly cleaned my baby. The afternoon and evening showers have kept me from picking my baby up until just recently. She's home and she's GOOD! Yipppeeeee. I paid right at $300 for the do and it is well worth it.

Although making the connections with the other gear and computer was a headache (not pictured), I had a session today where everything was everything. No drop-outs on the main meters. It was cool! Although I am using the computer for tracking – I could never ever let go of the Mixing board and Outboard processors. I'm just an ole school type of girl. And ya'll know I just love buttons and lights. Gotta have it!
